Our Focus on Education
Scholarships - We believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives. That’s why we are committed to providing scholarships for young people in Kenya to attend secondary school and university.
For many students, the cost of education remains a significant barrier. With rising tuition fees and limited access to financial aid, countless bright and motivated youth are at risk of being left behind. Our scholarship program is designed to change that—by opening doors to opportunity, dignity, and a brighter future. Every scholarship we provide is an investment in a young person’s potential—and in the future of Kenya.
School Improvement & Access Projects - in communities across Kenya, children face barriers that make attending school consistently difficult. While school buildings are important, access to education also depends on whether families can afford basic supplies, transportation, and other essential needs.
The Japhet Family Foundation works to support students and strengthen schools include repairing school facilities, providing scholarships, and helping students access uniforms, school supplies, and transportation.
For many girls, lack of access to sanitary products can also mean missing several days of school each month. By helping address these everyday barriers, we aim to ensure more children—especially girls—can stay in school, succeed in their studies, and build a stronger future for themselves and their communities.
Revitalizing Education at Ambassador Kiti Memorial Secondary (AKMS) School
The Ambassador Kiti Memorial Secondary School (AKMS), founded in 2006 to serve students aged 14 to 18 in the rural coastal area of Vitengeni, Kenya. In a region where 84% of students live in poverty, AKMS had struggled for years due to limited government funding, falling into significant disrepair.
Through recent efforts, we’ve successfully secured community development funding to complete a new five-classroom building, added a science facility, improved sanitation, and provided much-needed resources like computers, lab equipment, and books. While this progress is encouraging, the need for schools like the AKMS is great.
For many children in rural Kenya, finishing secondary school is a life-changing opportunity, yet many are unable to do so without support. Our goal is to provide every child in the region with unencumbered access to education, giving them the tools to transform their futures.
